Countless newspapers, periodicals and platforms have stated that the data scientists is the sexiest job of the 21st century thus inferring that data science is an attractive field of lucrative and endless possibilities. No doubt we all can agree to this. Data science has changed the way businesses run, products launch, people interact and beyond to make life more efficient and effective. But there are some ways that data science makes life easier that are quite unexpected.
[NOTE ABOUT DATA SCIENCE ARTICLE: This is a satire. A comedy. A chuckle to break up your analyses, meetings, programming and more. We all need a couple minutes to laugh so here we are.]
Data makes breaking it off easy…
“It’s not you, it’s me” just doesn’t cut it anymore when breaking it off with a person. They have in-depth questions. They demand detailed, intricate answers. So what can you do when this occurs? Have the cluster analyses and regression models ready for a calm and logical walk-through.
Problem solved. As the old saying goes ” the data speaks for itself.” You simply need to walk through the visualizations and they’ll understand. If not, run.
Teach Em’ Young: Your Data is Your Data
Kids these days…they’re surrounded by electronics and technology and with that…data. All of those logins and email addresses have to go somewhere. Eventually they’ll catch on to the basics of data ownership.
Give it some time and one of the natural questions kids’ll start asking is “how’re you using my data?” to school teachers.
Data Science Gives a New Spin to Spirituality
Religion. Piety. Mindedness. The Ritual of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. However you’d like to call it. Something might be up there. And that something might just be “Big Data” or one of the many realms of data science to some of us. It’s in the cloud so it looks down on all of us.
Big data and data science can ease our worries on bankruptcy, information security, manipulation, etc and provide a new, serene sense of purpose and relaxation. Press save and have the ability to access your large data sets from the top of Mt. Everest if you desire. That must be the work of data science.
Data Science Makes for Incredible Bad Jokes
This might be one step above those Ryan Gosling “Hey Girl” memes but you can’t help but smile. I excel and you excel with Excel. Get it? Got the Word on Word? We can go on with this for days.
Embrace those bad jokes. I don’t give a Hadoop if you think this is silly. It’s actually amazing.
Between teaching youngins to question data privacy from the get-go, creating superiorly bad jokes and making breaking up as easy as a linear regression output, data science is here for you in so many unexpected ways. Don’t ignore its luster, usefulness or all around sexiness. Embrace it and ensure that you have the appropriate brackets around that embrace.
