Bio: John Mason is founder of Responsible Investor Non-Profit Organisation. Responsible Investor is a non-profit focused on achieving positive social impact through business as a force for good. He has over ten years professional experience in the institutional financial markets based mainly in trading and investment management within the city of London. John holds an MA(Hons) in Economics and Finance along with his professional qualifications and is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority. A self-described data science advocate John is active within the data science community, working on his own projects, and was part of the team receiving the Most Innovative award at Scotland’s first Datathon in 2017.
Objectives:
- Explain the audience what is responsible investment (and social impact). How they are related, how they can be related.
- Tell about opportunities for data scientists to participate in the third sector.
- Encourage participation of data professionals with the third sector and charities.
